Grown by People's owners, Mike Maxwell and Thea Deley, have worked together on marketing communications projects for more than 10 years. They launched their first communications company in 1998 in Denver. Since then, they have provided a variety of marketing services for clients ranging from an academic institute to a chocolatier. Their combined experience in the non-profit and corporate sectors provides them with an insider's knowledge of common challenges your organization may be facing.
MIKE MAXWELL co-owner, IT guru, audio engineer Mike brings more than 13 years of Internet development and six years of online marketing experience to your Web site projects. He also draws on his four years of professional audio production experience to enhance your sound recordings. For six years Mike worked for TrueCredit, an Internet start-up company that survived the dot.com bust and became the leading online consumer credit Web site. As director of product development there, Mike and his department designed and tested new personal credit products. As a member of the leadership team, Mike's contributions helped boost the site's daily transaction rate almost 9,000 percent over five years. While with CareerTrack, the foremost seminar company at the time, Mike worked as an associate audio producer. He recorded and edited high-profile programs for Tom Peters, Roger Mellott, Julie White and other business speakers. These audio programs grossed more than $12 million for the company annually. Mike's most recent endeavor as an online marketing consultant gave him the opportunity to work with individuals as well as small- to medium-sized organizations. He has successfully enhanced these clients' visibility on the Web and improved their bottom line. Mike graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with a degree in political science. THEA DELEY co-owner, PR guru, editor/writer Thea brings 12 years of marketing and public relations experience in the higher education, government and nonprofit sectors. She also draws on her 10 years of professional writing, editing and graphic design experience to enhance your marketing materials. While still a student, Thea was offered a marketing communications position at the University of Denver. She wrote for and edited the alumni magazine (circulation 74,000); edited the biweekly faculty/staff newspaper; designed and coded high-profile university Web sites; and wrote, edited and/or designed marketing materials for various university departments. As a freelancer, Thea has also written and designed communication pieces for clients ranging from a bicycle advocacy coalition to a hostel. Thea enjoys combining integrated marketing with traditional fund raising to boost visibility of and support for non-profit organizations. For example, she created a newsletter and Web site, and wrote newspaper articles and foundation grant requests to raise $60,000 for Hospice of San Luis Obispo County. Thea has published more than 60 articles in various trade and consumer magazines, such as Delicious Living and Common Ground. She earned her master's degree in public relations from the University of Denver, and her social sciences undergraduate degree from Colorado State University.
